There are many working parts in a recliner mechanism and, inevitably, these will cause noise during operation. Clicks, squeaks and metallic spring noises are to be expected as the mechanism changes position and moves from closed to fully reclined and back again. These noises are normal and not signs of a fault. There is very little to go wrong with a recliner mechanism in everyday use.

If the movement feels as though it is juddering or jolting, please check that nothing has become lodged in the mechanism as this is the likely cause.

If you have a power recliner and are worried that it has stopped working properly, please check the article here
