Maintaining your Linara & keeping it comfortable

Care and maintenance advice for your Linara sofa.

The Linara features seats with a foam core inside, topped with a thick layer of super soft Dacron fibre. The layer of foam is super resilient, giving the cushions a firmness at the centre, with the Dacron top providing a pillowy softness that results in an amazingly comfortable sit. Over time, with normal use, this layer of fibre could start to mat together, and your seats might begin to look flat - which, in turn, will make the covers look loose.

The backs and arm pads are filled with fibre, which means they’ll feel super soft but are at risk of flattening as the fibres begin to mesh together. Without regular plumping, they will lose volume, making the covers look loose and becoming less comfortable.

The Linara is a medium maintenance level sofa, which means it will take a little bit of care to avoid the above, and keep your cushions looking full, and feeling cosy.

Daily plumping is the best way to combat any flattening of the fibre layer. The Linara has fixed seats and backs so you just need to encourage the fibre inside to spread evenly throughout the cushion, moving it from the back where it commonly gathers, down to the front edge. If this is carried out regularly, the fibres inside won’t have the chance to mat together and your seats will hold their shape well.

Once you’ve finished plumping, the final step is to smooth the leather covers using the method below, so your Linara will look as good as new. We like to call this the Union Jack method, as it follows the stripes of the Great British flag.

- Using clean, dry hands, begin by smoothing your cushions from the centre to the outside following a horizontal, and then a vertical line.

- Then, start at the centre again and smooth diagonally out to each corner. Smooth the fabric right to the edges and tuck down the sides and back.

As with all sofas, we recommend that you use your Linara as evenly as possible to avoid greater wear and tear on your favourite seat.

If you have chosen your Linara in aniline or semi aniline leather you will need to take special care to look after the leather. Read more about cleaning your Linara to discover the best way to tackle stains and keep the leather in great condition.
